Special V-Hour Opportunity: Ukraine
Your donations to organizations providing humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people will be eligible for Central V Hour exchange. Here are a few websites Amira provided us. Any effort/donation is eligible for Central V Hour exchanges.
A few ideas and a link to an NPR article that is pretty helpful.
UNICEF - On their website, they have a page specifically about the aid they're providing for Ukrainian children. UNICEF supports health, nutrition, HIV prevention, education, safe drinking water, sanitation, and protection for children and families caught in the conflict in Ukraine. "Heavy weapons fire along the line of contact has already damaged critical water infrastructure and education facilities in recent days," said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine M. Russell in a statement.
UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) - On their website, they have a pretty clear breakdown of what your donations are used for (like what percentage is used for administrative costs)
The international organization aims to provide emergency assistance to families in Ukraine — providing aid such as cash assistance and opportunities for resettlement in the U.S.
"UNHCR is working with the authorities, UN and other partners in Ukraine and is ready to provide humanitarian assistance wherever necessary and possible. To that effect, security and access for humanitarian efforts must be guaranteed," the organization said in a statement.
CARE - (One of our parents who moved their family to Scotland (we forgave them) works for this organization.) CARE is raising money for its Ukraine Crisis Fund, which will provide immediate aid including food, water, hygiene kits, support services, and direct cash assistance.
The humanitarian organization aims to raise $20 million and help at least 4 million Ukrainians. It says it will prioritize women and girls, families, and the elderly.
World Central Kitchen This is an organization started by a world-famous chef, Jose Andres. "WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. We build resilient food systems with locally-led solutions." They work in countries all over the world, after starting in Haiti. They're a great organization.

Dear Parents,
Volunteers are vital to every successful school! Volunteers help keep costs down and make the school a better place in which to learn and grow.
Our V-Hours program reduces the materials fee through volunteerism. The actual materials fee per child is $600/year for 12-month contracts. By participating in the V Hours program, volunteers can serve 30 hours per year and reduce or eliminate the materials fee. Or, families can opt to purchase all or a portion of their V hours. The value of each V hour is $20.
We cannot thank you enough for contributing you time and talents at Central Montessori School!
Best regards,
Central Montessori School
