Central Montessori School proudly holds membership in the American Montessori Society and is actively engaged in the journey towards attaining full accreditation. Our vibrant academic community comprises approximately 150 students, each belonging to one of six distinct developmental levels, ranging from infancy to middle school.
Nestled within a mixed-use neighborhood just beyond the bustling downtown business district and the prominent VCU/MCV medical areas, Central operates across three intimate campuses. This historic neighborhood is a tapestry woven with small businesses, residential pockets, and sites of historical significance. Leveraging the surrounding urban vitality, we tap into an array of resources that enrich our educational environment.
Our approach embraces experiential learning through engaging "go-trips" to diverse locales within our vibrant urban surroundings. From explorations along the James River to visits to parks and museums, these excursions are thoughtfully integrated into our curriculum for elementary and older students. This approach not only deepens their learning experience but also nurtures a profound connection with the world around them.

Church Hill holds the distinction of being Richmond's original neighborhood, and it was from the vantage point of Libby Hill Park's overlook that Richmond acquired its name. This area carries rich historical significance as the location of St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry famously delivered his impassioned "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech. In the present day, Church Hill boasts a prominent status as a hub of some of Richmond's most renowned dining establishments.
An exploration of Church Hill promises a journey through history and culinary delight. You could easily dedicate an entire day to strolling from one restaurant to another, indulging in a delectable array of treats that showcase the finest flavors Richmond has to offer. These gastronomic adventures unfold along beautifully designed sidewalks, graced by the presence of Little Free Libraries that contribute to the neighborhood's charm. And while you're there, keep your eyes peeled for the enchanting Fairy Village—a delightful discovery awaiting those who seek it!
